The following applicable Cornell policies provide expected standards and requirements, for the safety of children and youth participating in university-sponsored programs.

Children and Youth Safety, University Policy 8.8: Cornell is committed to providing a safe environment for children and youth (minors) who participate in programs covered by this policy (Covered Programs). These programs are operated both by university departments and operations, as well as third-party camp and activity operators licensing the use of university property, and involve the participation of children and youth drawn from locations throughout the United States and the world.

Reference Checks, Information Verification, and Background, University Policy 6.6.2: Cornell University requires units to conduct thorough reference checks and detailed information verification on all applicants (external and internal) to whom an offer of employment is to be made.

Retention of University Records, University Policy 4.7: Cornell University requires that university records be disposed of or retained for specific periods of time in accordance with legal or other institutional requirements, or for historical value. The university has designated official repositories to manage the retention and disposal of these records.
