The CYS Office is here to support all programs that work with minors. We provide:
Interpretation and Clarification: Of University Policy 8.8, The Protection of Minors and Abuse Reporting.
Collaboration with Program Directors: To ensure quality, safe programs for youth.
Management of Youth Program Registrations: To track participation and ensure all required information and documents are collected and maintained securely.
Monitoring Compliance: Across all youth programs on all of Cornell's campuses.
Provision of Resources: We offer resources and support to programs affected by policy 8.8, including training and education, consent and release forms, templates, and guidance on implementing safety measures.
Incident Reporting: We receive and review incident reports related to minors participating in Cornell's youth programs, ensuring appropriate actions are taken and offering support to affected parties.
Program Site Visits: We conduct site visits to youth programs to assess compliance, observe program operations, and collaborate with program directors on improvement for both program operations and CYS services.
Annual Policy Review: Conducted in collaboration with an advisory committee of program directors; this ensures the policy is still relevant, that it is reflective of current state, federal, and local laws and regulations, and identifies opportunities to improve the effectiveness or clarity of the policy or procedures.
