A Message for Youth Participants

Cornell University wants all youth programs to be safe, welcoming, and respectful places to learn and have fun.

If someone says or does something that makes you feel uncomfortable, confused, unsafe, or worried, tell someone right away. You can:

  • Talk to a trusted adult in your program
  • Talk to the program director 
  • Talk to your parent or guardian

If something doesn't feel right, speak up. We want to hear from you and help keep everyone safe.

Safe Programs Have Rules

To help keep everyone safe, all youth participants are expected to follow these rules:

  • Do not possess alcohol, drugs, fireworks, guns and other weapons, or sexually explicit materials.
  • Do not leave university property or the program location without permission.
  • Do not engage in violence, harassment, or sexual misconducct.
  • Hazing is prohibited.
  • Bullying, including verbal, physical, and cyber bullying is prohibited.
  • Smoking, vaping, and the use of tobacco products are prohibited.
  • Do not damage, misuse, or steal property.
  • Do not use cameras, phones, or other devices in places where privacy is expected, such as restrooms, locker rooms, changing areas, or showers.
  • Sexual activity is prohibited in Cornell University programs.

Participants who violate these rules may be suspended from or dismissed from the program.
