A Message for Youth Participants
Cornell University wants all youth programs to be safe, welcoming, respectful, and fun places to learn, explore, and make new connections.
If Something Doesn't Feel Right, Tell Someone
If someone says or does something that makes you feel uncomfortable, confused, unsafe, scared, or worried, tell a trusted adult right away.
You can:
- Talk to a trusted adult in your program
- Talk to the program director
- Talk to your parent or guardian

- Contact emergency services or local authorities if you are in immediate danger:

Safe Programs Have Rules
To help create a safe and respectful environment for everyone, youth participants are expected to follow these rules:
- Do not bring or use alcohol, drugs, fireworks, guns and other weapons, or sexually explicit materials.
- Do not leave the program area or university property without permission.
- Treat others with kindness and respect.
- Violence, threats, harassment, bullying, and sexual misconduct are prohibited.
- Hazing is prohibited.
- Smoking, vaping, and the use of tobacco products are prohibited.
- Do not damage, misuse, or take property that does not belong to you.
- Respet everyone's privacy. Do not use cameras, phones, or other devices in places where privacy is expected, such as restrooms, locker rooms, changing areas, or showers.
- Follow directions from program staff and supervisors.
Participants who do not follow these rules may be suspended from or dismissed from the program.
