Frequently Asked Questions

What if our event is open to the public or to the Cornell Community and is not specifically targeted toward minors, but some minors may attend?

Registration and compliance with Policy 8.8 are generally not required. Event organizers are encouraged to contact CYS if they would like guidance and recommendations.

What about events/programs where minors will be chaperoned by a parent/guardian, teacher, Scout leader, or other adult chaperone?

The presence of adult chaperones can affect the requirements that apply to a program, but they do not automatically eliminate Policy 8.8 obligations. Contact CYS at least 30 days before your event so that we can help determine the appropriate requirements and next steps.
