Program Monitoring and Site Visits

Program monitoring and site visits are intended to support safe, compliant, and successful youth programs. Monitoring activities provide an opportunity to identify strengths, address concerns, clarify requirements, and share best practices that support participant safety and program quality.

To help ensure compliance with University Policy 8.8 and promote the safety and well-being of youth participants, CYS may conduct site visits, program reviews, and other monitoring activities for youth programs.

Site visits may be conducted to:

  • Support programs in implementing youth protection requirements.
  • Observe program operations and supervision practices.
  • Verify compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential safety concerns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to program staff.

Site visits may be announced or unannounced and may include review of program documentation, observation of activities, discussions with program personnel, and assessment of facilities and safety procedures.

Program personnel are expected to cooperate with monitoring activities and respond promptly to recommendations or corrective actions identified during the review process.
