Message to Families

Cornell University is dedicated to creating safe programs, camps, and activities for children and youth. Individuals working with children and youth are required to follow the University Policy 8.8, Children and Youth Safety. It also calls for any individuals who are responsible for the care and welfare of the children and youth to:

  • Complete training on identifying and reporting sexual misconduct

  • Read and understand the policy and guidelines

  • Clear a criminal background check and search the sex offender registry

Cornell wants to work with families to keep children safe. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s safety with Cornell, or the Children and Youth Safety at Cornell Policy, please let us know by:

  • Speaking with the university staff member who interacts most with your child

  • Speaking with the director of your child’s program, camp, or activity

  • Contacting the Children and Youth Safety Program Administrator: youthprogramadministrator@cornell.edu.

  • Reporting any incidents to the proper authorities
